We are delighted to invite you to participate to the official launch of the SSH CENTRE project, to be held January 25th, 2023.
The SSH CENTRE brings together 13 leading organisations (including Mobilise) from across Europe and is the new centre of excellence for the Social Sciences & Humanities (SSH) across Climate-Energy-Mobility, running until 2026. It will engage directly with stakeholders including researchers, policymakers, business representatives and citizens to strengthen social innovation, as well as SSH-STEM collaboration, transdisciplinary policy advice, and inclusive engagement to accelerate the EU’s transition to carbon neutrality.
The launch event will take the form of a Policy Insight debate entitled “Co-creating the shift to clean mobility”, tackling the European Union’s ban on the sale of combustion engines starting 2035. This first Policy Insight, organised by Friends of Europe, will analyse the challenges that will arise in the next decade, as we adapt to alternative modes of transport. The event will discuss how the shift in mobility links to city governance, consumer behaviour change, infrastructure investments, and the cost-of-living crisis. The shift to clean mobility also needs to avoid creating a two-speed Europe, where some countries prosper from the combustion engine ban and others struggle to implement alternative solutions.
The interactive debate, preceded by a networking lunch, will welcome a wide range of stakeholders, among which senior officials from the EU and international institutions, MEPs, academia, private sector and NGO representatives. It will take place in Brussels, on Wednesday, 25 January 2023, from 12.30 to 14.00.
You will receive a confirmation of your registration with logistical details prior to the event. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
We look forward to welcoming you.
