Maria Caballero Pons
Biography
Maria Caballero Pons is a PhD student at the Mobilise Research Group of the VUB, working on the UNICYCLING project on cycling futures in Brussels. She holds an MSc in Urban Environmental Management from Wageningen University and a Master's degree in Economic Policy and Public Economics from the University of Valencia. Her research focuses on the socio-spatial dimensions of sustainable mobility transitions, combining qualitative methods, participatory research and systems thinking to understand how place-based conditions shape cycling cultures and policy outcomes. Before joining VUB, she worked as a sustainable transitions researcher at VITO, where she led participatory research on biodiversity conservation and science-policy interface. Her broader research interests include social justice, live music and bikepacking.
