We are delighted to invite you to join our upcoming Policy Insight 'The EU on a mission: rethink governance and policymaking' which will be held in Brussels on Tuesday 30 January 2024 from 12:30 to 14:00.
The EU missions under Horizon Europe were originally conceived to achieve multiple goals at the same time: fighting populism and citizens' disenchantment in European policymaking, and addressing the critical and cross-cutting challenges of our time. This debate will reflect on the original scope of the EU missions: have they been able to support a radical restructuring of governance and policymaking and stimulate innovation as it was intended?
In 2024, it will be three years after the programme's was developed to support Europe's transformation into a greener, healthier, more inclusive and resilient continent. This interactive debate will allow us to discuss whether the missions have been capable of integrating perspectives from tehnical and social disciplines, and if they managed to develop foresight and understanding of the factors driving the transformative change in our societies.
This 60-minute engagement will be preceded by a networking sandwich lunch, welcoming a wide range of stakeholders, among which senior officials from the European Union and international institutions, MEPs, academia, private sector, and NGO representatives.
This Policy is part of a series of events organised in the context of the SSH CENTRE (Social Sciences and Humanities for Climate, Energy and Transport Research Excellence) project.
This Horizon Europe project, supported by 13 leading organisations from across Europe, engages directly with stakeholders including researchers, policymakers, business representatives, as well as civil society and citizens to strengthen social innovation, SSH-STEM collaboration and transdisciplinary policy advice, to accelerate the EU's transition to carbon neutrality.
The event will take place in Brussels and will also be available to wider audience via livestream.
