The aim of the project was to develop a methodology for the co-design of a school street zone that takes into account the needs and priorities of all affected stakeholders, namely the schoolchildren, parents, schoolteachers, and local residents.
We carried out a survey of 1251 students and held workshops in seven classes at three schools, and we also surveyed parents, teachers, and residents. The results show that there is a strong potential for a modal shift to cycling among students, parents, and teachers. Although these groups often commute by car, we see that many respondents would like to cycle to school. Furthermore, there is also a strong support for a school street among parents and teachers.
